For years, the Women United Gathering for Good Luncheon—organized by United Way for Greater Austin—has brought together an empowering group of women to support their community through a shared experience. Each year, the event embraces a unique theme, creating a space where stories of triumph lift others up and where gathering around a table can spark meaningful change. Thoughtfully designed details enhance the experience, transforming simple moments into powerful acts of connection and progress.

2025’s luncheon shone with Empowering a Spectrum of Change, celebrating the full range of strengths and ideas Women United brings to the table. Inspired by the way a prism refracts light into brilliant colors, the décor featured gradient linens and iridescent accents that shifted hue as guests moved through the room. Placemats highlighted different “shades” of service—leaders, listeners, doers, makers, dreamers. A radiant Chain of Prisms installation invited guests to write messages of empowerment and encouragement, linking their words to a suncatcher centerpiece that shimmered with every new addition. The evolving artwork, symbolizing collective strength and support, was later donated to Saint Louise House to continue inspiring women long after the event. Throughout the luncheon, keynote speakers reflected on how a chorus of perspectives amplifies change, reminding everyone that when every hue is allowed to shine, the possibilities are endless.

In 2024, as part of the organization’s centennial celebration, the luncheon adopted the theme Grow Wild, inspired by a century of growth, joy, and transformation. A vibrant combination of whimsy and wildflowers set the tone for reflection on how small seeds of change planted 100 years ago have flourished into strong pillars of community impact. Guests engaged with interactive elements such as custom crossword puzzle placemats featuring community statistics and insights, as well as a collaborative wildflower painting that attendees helped bring to life.

The 2023 luncheon focused on the idea that a table, when surrounded by powerful women, becomes a vessel of progress and hope. The theme was brought to life through creative details, from stylizing food service into table scapes to interactive placemats inviting creative ideation and a custom hopscotch that filled the room with smiles. The event also featured large-scale artworks by Sarah Murrin and Umbreen Ahmad, which became the prized items of the auction. Every detail was carefully curated to highlight the theme of coming together for the community.
